An empty nester trying to decide if it’s time to downsize? Hi, my name is Rich Barnes, owner/broker of Realty Experts in West Allis, Wisconsin, 53214. And I have three things for you to consider if you are an empty nester and deciding if it’s time to downsize. First, it may free up your finances. You could potentially have a lower mortgage payment and you may be looking to travel with your newfound freedom. Number one, downsizing may afford you more cash to fund your adventures. Everyone likes an exotic adventure, a cruise out on the open ocean, a visit to another country or a vacation on the beach. Sounds good to me. Number two, downsizing affords less home maintenance and cleaning. Usually downsizing means a smaller home with less work. Who wouldn’t like that? Number three, downsizing may present an opportunity to move to a one-level living. If you’re living in a one-and-a-half or a two-story home and climbing those stairs has taken a toll, doing so would be a proactive move to consider possible future physical limitations. If your new one-level home is part of an association, you would be freeing up time, not spending your summers cutting your grass, shoveling your snow in the freezing cold winters. Hey, and I can get behind that. I’m Rich Barnes, Realty Experts.
